HSC's Dr. Tracy Hicks reelected board member-at-large of the Fellows of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners

Hicks manages her own practice in East Texas, serving mental health, addiction and primary care needs. She鈥檚 leading the development of the College of Nursing鈥檚 Master of Science in Nursing-Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practice (MSN-PMHNP) program launching in fall 2025.*

鈥淒r. Hick鈥檚 extensive experience in mental health and substance use disorders is already a vital asset to our College of Nursing team. The addition of this exceptional national honor is one more example of the high caliber of our faculty,鈥 said Dr. Cindy Weston, DNP, APRN, FNP-BC, CHSE, FAANP, FAAN, founding dean and professor at the College of Nursing. 鈥淚 am grateful and humbled Dr. Hicks chose to serve on our faculty and is dedicated to leading our new MSN-PMHNP program.鈥

Prior to her role at HSC, Hicks served as the inaugural program coordinator for Texas Christian University鈥檚 Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner program, and she holds a certification in addictions through the Addictions Nursing Certification Board. Additionally, she is a Fellow of the International Academy of Addictions Nursing.

Her two-year board term begins July 1.

The American Association of Nurse Practitioners庐 is the largest professional membership organization for nurse practitioners of all specialties. It represents the interests of the more than 385,000 licensed NPs in the U.S.

The Fellows of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners program was established in 2000 and is dedicated to the advancement of NPs and the high-quality health care they provide. AANP Fellows are NP leaders who have made outstanding contributions to NP education, policy, clinical practice and research.

*HSC鈥檚 MSN-PMHNP degree is pending approval by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC), the Texas Board of Nursing and the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB).
