Breastfeeding mothers at The have a private space in the on the west end of campus. The 鈥檚 Office of Medical Student Success originally opened the lactation room in 2022.
The room, located in MET 454, is private and secluded, designed specifically for breastfeeding mothers who need support when returning to work or studying on campus. The room is open to all HSC faculty, staff and students.
The goal of the lactation room is to provide a private, comfortable and welcoming environment for new mothers. The room contains ambient lighting, a recliner, a chairside desk, pillows, power strips for multiple plug-ins and devices, a large sink and a cabinet with drawers.
The room also has lockers to store pump equipment if needed, along with a modular refrigerator for the temporary storage of breastmilk and a restroom nearby.
